Working diligently to enhance your academic research and writing ability as well as your language teaching skills?  Eager to have your research work published in international SCI/SSCI journals?  Then join us at the Academic Writing for Publication Workshop, co-hosted by the U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou and the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, taking place on July 22-23, 2024, in Guangzhou.

This seminar will be conducted in English and is open ONLY to English language teachers, researchers, and pre-service teachers, and is free of charge.

学术论文写作与发表：提升学术研究和写作技能

鉴于中国英语教师在学术出版方面的要求日益增加，本系列工作坊旨在帮助有兴趣的英语教师和研究人员提升其学术写作技能，深入了解健全的研究设计及其他成功学术出版的关键因素。通过讲座和实践活动，主讲人将分享其丰富的发表经验，以及作为多家期刊审稿人、编辑委员会成员和编辑的经验，展示如何利用语料库和人工智能帮助作者产出适当、地道和准确的语言风格，从而生成高质量的研究文章，达到出版标准。如时间允许，主讲人还将在活动期间简要介绍如何使语言教学更加有趣、有效和赋能。

Enhancing academic research/writing skills for publication purposes

Considering the increasing research publication requirements for English faculty members in China, this workshop series aims to help interested English faculty members and researchers to enhance their academic writing skills and their knowledge about sound research designs and other key factors for successful academic publication.  Via lectures and hands-on activities, the presenter, who is both an extensively published author and a seasoned reviewer/editorial board member/editor for various journals, will show how the use of corpora and AI can aid authors in producing appropriate, idiomatic, and accurate language with the right style and, in turn, high-quality research articles ready and suitable for publication.  If time permits, the presenter will also cover briefly how to make language teaching more interesting, effective, and empowering during some of the sessions.

主讲人介绍 About the Presenter

刘迪麟

刘迪麟博士是美国阿拉巴马大学英语系应用语言学/对外英语教学专业的荣休教授。他主要研究使用认知语言学和语料库语言学方法对英语语法和词汇进行描述、学习和教学。他发表各类学术作品超过100多篇/部，包括七部学术专著和九十多篇学术期刊论文和书籍文章等。他的文章发表在20多种语言学/应用语言学的SSCI期刊上，例如《应用语言学》《认知语言学》《ELT期刊》等。他名列2023全球前2%顶尖科学家“年度影响力”语言学类榜单. 他曾或正在为十多种期刊担任编辑委员会成员，包括《ELT期刊》《学术用途英语期刊》《国际词典学期刊》《语言》《系统》《TESOL季刊》和《TESOL期刊》。目前，他是Cell Press/Elsevier SCI期刊《Heliyon Education》的联合主编，负责处理语言学和应用语言学（语言教学）方面的投稿。刘教授常被邀请在全球各国和地区的会议和大学进行主旨演讲和其他演讲/讲座，足迹遍及巴西、柬埔寨、中国大陆、中国香港、日本、中国澳门、新加坡、韩国、中国台湾、美国和越南等地。

Dilin Liu, Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus of Applied Linguistics/TESOL in the English Department at the University of Alabama, USA. His research focuses on the description, learning, and teaching of English grammar and vocabulary using cognitive- and corpus-linguistic approaches.  He has published extensively with over 100 publications, including seven books and numerous journal articles/book chapters. His articles have appeared in over 20 different SSCI journals in linguistics/applied linguistics, such as Applied Linguistics, Cognitive Linguistics, ELT Journal, etc. He is on the 2023 world top 2% most highly cited scientists (authors) list in the field of linguistics. He has served or is serving on the editorial boards of over a dozen journals including ELT Journal, Journal of English for Academic Purposes, International Journal of Lexicography, Lingua, System, TESOL Quarterly, and TESOL Journal.  He is currently co-editor of the Cell Press/Elsevier SCI journal Heliyon Education in charge of submissions on linguistics and applied linguistics (language teaching). A frequently invited speaker, Professor Liu has given many plenary/keynote and other invited speeches/lectures at conferences and universities in various countries and regions around the world, including Brazil, Cambodia, ChinaHong Kong, Japan, ChinaMacau, Singapore, South Korea, ChinaTaiwan, the U.S., and Vietnam.
